Shelbi Snodgrass

Shelbi is completing her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary in the Relational Practices Research Lab focused on relational practices related to well-being, recovery, and family systems. She a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) through the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), a Certified Mental Performance Consultant ® (CMPC) with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, a professional member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA), and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Her formal training is in the area of mental health, addiction and recovery, and performance psychology. She has worked in the field as a practitioner for over eight years. Shelbi is also a registered yoga teacher (RYT) with a focus on supporting clients to build a foundational and restorative practice.
As a former varsity athlete, Shelbi is passionate about the field of performance. She supports Team Canada athletes and has worked with various provincial organizations and post-secondary institutions within British Columbia. Additionally, Shelbi is the chair of the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Committee and the BC Representative for the CSPA. Notably, Shelbi was named the recipient of the CSPA 2024 Early Career Professional Award. Her approach to counselling and consulting centres around collaboration, the exploration of intersecting identity development, self-empowerment, and leadership.
Shelbi values a systems perspective to behaviour and nurturing the human being in the performer. She aims to create a safe and inclusive environment for individual clients and teams. Shelbi believes sustainable growth requires community, conscious decision making, and a lifestyle commitment towards achieving goals within and outside of sport.
